As you are all probably aware, all incorporated societies are obliged to re-register under the new incorporated societies act. This means that Fencing NZ, the Regions and many of our Clubs will have to reregister by 2026.

This provides us an opportunity to review our rules and consider the best way to modernise our structure for the future. The Board has set up a committee to consider the changes, more specifically to:

  • Provide advice that will support FeNZ, FeNZ Regions and affiliated fencing clubs update or establish constitutions that comply with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 (the Act); and,
  • Provide advice on other changes that could be made to modernise the constitutions and provide the basis for stronger governance arrangements to better serve the New Zealand fencing community.

We will be consulting the community with a discussion paper on options and recommendations in the coming months. More information and a timeline/milestones can be found here.

The Committee members are: Amanda Hopkins, Grant Tweddle, Liz Stewart, Jules Congleton. If you would like to contribute or be a part of the committee, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
