Fencing NZ is looking for suitable candidates to support our athletes competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in London.

We are initially calling for applications for the role of team manager and a number of team coaching positions.

Team Manager

The manager is responsible for the organisation and management of the New Zealand team. In addition to your ‘on-tour’ role you will: join the selection panel to appoint the other members of the management and coaching group; lead our pre-tour preparations; and, report to the Board on the team’s performance after the tour.

A position description outlining key accountabilities and anticipated terms of engagement is available here

Applications close: Sunday 30 January 2022

Team Coaches (number subject to the final size and composition of the team)

The coaches are responsible for supporting New Zealand team fencers competing at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships. In addition to your ‘on-tour’ role you will be invited to take a leading role in the 2nd national training camp and liaise with selected athletes and their personal coaches on pre-tour training.

While we are looking for coaches that are available for the full duration of the tour, there may also be an  opportunity for a coach to support fencers competing in the cadet, junior and veterans’ events in the later part of the tournament. This role could suit a senior fencer with strong coaching credentials who is selected for the NZ team and wants to stay on following the completion of the Senior events.

A position description outlining key accountabilities and anticipated terms of engagement is available here

Applications close: Sunday 13 February 2022

Other roles

In the New Year we may also call for applications for an Assistant Team Manager (Cadets & Juniors) if the size and composition of the touring party suggests this is necessary. This role could suit a parent accompanying an athlete to the Championships, or a senior member of the team prepared to remain in the UK for the Junior and Cadet events.
