As we are all aware, with the recent recurrence of cases of Covid19, Auckland is currently in Level 3 lockdown and the rest of the country is in Level 2. This is expected to continue until 26th August, with a review by the government this Friday, 21st August.
The increased concern over Covid19 has resulted in announcements that sports will be postponing or cancelling many national tournaments in the coming weeks.
The Fencing NZ Covid19 Committee has met to review our own National Events’ Calendar.
In April, the Fencing NZ Board resolved that no National Events would be held until the country returned to Level 1. The remaining events in 2020 include National Secondary Schools in Christchurch (4th to 6th September), NZ Senior Nationals in Auckland (24th to 26th October), and the NZ Under 20’s (now scheduled for February 2021).
The Covid Committee will reconvene after the government’s announcement on Friday to discuss our next steps.
