FeNZ NATIONAL U/20 TRAINING CAMP 14 -17 January 2004 Christchurch
The primary objective of this camp will be to finalise preparations for those fencers attending the Oceania Youth Championships held in Melbourne from the 22 ? 25 January . Activities included will encompass the following:
an initial fitness assessment which will serve as a benchmark for all athletes over the course of 2004 .
footwork and other fencing specific conditioning work aimed at increasing speed and muscular endurance. Free , and controlled bouting under competition conditions . This will include both individual and team based work .
Individual and group coaching lessons . FeNZ will ensure that specialists coaches are available for Foil , Epee and Sabre and wherever possible we are working to ensure that fencers individual coaches can attend the camp.
Lectures on fencing topics
An open competition on the final day .
An offsite exercise in team planning and co-ordination . There will be a fundraising element to this with proceeds going to a new funding programme FeNZ is putting together that has a strong development focus.
The cost of the camp is $150 for the four days (note 1) . Payment will be due on the first day of the camp .The camp will run from 10 am to 4.30 pm each day . Participants should bring training gear , full fencing whites and swimming costumes (optional) , water bottles and refreshments. The camp venue is the University of Canterbury although this could change depending on numbers.
All out of town fencers and coaches will be billeted during their stay . Any fencers wanting to make their own arrangements should advise either Steve Clarke or Paul Silk of this in advance of the course .

Team Manager , Steve Clarke will be available to discuss the benefits of the camp with individual fencers. In confirming their intention to join the camp fencers also agree to abide the terms and conditions representatives of FeNZ , and CPAFC (as the training camp host) impose during the running of the camp .
Note 1: It is the intention of FeNZ to apply for a funding grant to assist in the cost of running the camp . If successful it is likely partial rebates will be given to those fencers traveling on to the Oceania championships .
