In a pre-Olympic year the standard of competition at an A-Grade such as Challenge Australia is always going to be tougher than at other times. That, combined with the relative inexperience of the NZers competing this year, suggest it should be no suprise that, on the surface anyway, good results were always going to be a struggle. Best NZers: Jess Beer finished 55 out of 133 starters having advanced to the 2nd round of the DE. Good effort Jess in what was a class field. James Tabak in his first A-Grade event finished 104 out of 155 starters having lost his first fight in the DE. Good result for first time up James - well done. Other results below.
All other NZ competitiors were eliminated in the first round with each having 1 victory in their respective pools. Final placings were:
Men Andreas Sesun 125 Willie Upritchard 126 Richard Kilgour 128 Andrew Imms 131
Women Jenny Hope 108 Elizabeth Washington 110 Sarah Tabak 118
