The FeNZ Board has placed new insurance covers on a national basis for liability and property, as from 1 July 2018. It is the first time comprehensive cover has been arranged.
This means that all assets, fencing equipment and chattels owned or held by FeNZ and its four regions are covered under one policy. Please note that presently, the cover does not apply to property held by a club or an individual fencer.
Public (General) liability, statutory liability and association liability insurance applies to all affiliated fencers, referees, coaches, managers and officials, as well the Board and national and regional officers and committee members.
Importantly for our members, fencers when competing, officiating, coaching or training, whether in a NZ event or overseas (except North America and certain countries) are now covered for any personal liability for injury caused to another competitor, or a referee or official, or damage to other people’s property.
To be entitled to the benefit of the liability cover you must be an affiliated member at the time of the activity concerned.
If you have any questions about the insurances now held, or are concerned about potential liability you may have following a fencing incident, you should contact the secretary of your region.
