SPARC's inaugural Connecting Coaches Convention in Wellington exceeded all expectations – SPARC's and the 550 coaches who attended.
"it was great. It provided an openning for my personal coaching development which will be reflected in opportunity for athletes and coaches I will now work with" said Martin Brill, participating coach.
"My interest was primarily with children and junior player development. The key note speaker, Bob Bigelow and Rod Thorpe (Teaching Games For Understanding) spoke with passion on the topic and their presentations resonated with me as the real deal. They really reinforced the importance of the philosophy - let the kids play the game".
"Other presentations on program and team development were superbe".
"I also took the opportunity to explore the sport equipment and technological tools now available and I am now using game and skill analysis software to provide better analysis feedback for fencers. A light year improvement on the subjective coach "I think you do this" or the pencil and paper data collection techniques"
"Well done SPARC".
